I know what you're thinking - how could a fully rockered 108 under foot ski possibly do it all? But this one does and let me tell you why.
It starts with the construction. Volkl made this ski with a wood core surrounded by their 3D Glass technology for lightweight durability and the perfect amount of rigidity. It delivers a forgiving power underfoot, driving performance in any condition. You'll have powerful and sweeping turns on groomers, effortless float across a powder field, and transition in anything in between with full confidence. The fully rockered profile smooths out any crud and choppy snow. It lets you glide over deep powder, crush the in-between snow, and because of its perfect stiffness and sidewall, lets you get up on the edge with minimal effort.
Volkl arguably has one of the greatest freeride, big mountain ski lineups in the business. This ski is both accessible to the more beginner off-piste skier and will perform to standards of the expert skier. I'm 5'2" and chose the 157cm which is almost exactly my height. I paired these with the Marker Griffon 13 binding, which sets you up a little higher off your ski, which is important because a 102 underfoot is on the more aggressive side for my size. The higher set binding will help me more easily get this ski up on edge quickly and effectively, which proves that it DOES matter what binding you pair with your ski. It can add so much to the skiing experience when everything is working together in harmony.
When you're out there sending it on the mountain you shouldn't be worried about how your skis will perform under varying snow conditions. You should be able to go where you want to go in confidence, knowing your ski will perform excellently in all of it, which helps you focus on what's truly important - having fun on that mountain.
